18thc gown, by Abigial709b 18thc gown, by Abigial709b
my 18thc robe a la francais front view. Its made from shot faux silk embrioded with flowers .Theres at least 10 yards of fabirc in the dress and trims .
the petticoat is made from shot red black silk taffeta.
its worn over pocket panniers ,though I did later cheat and pad them as the dress is too heavy for the pocket hoops unsupported

Yes or get down the aisles ,I can never figure out how they sat in those 18thc tiny chairs ,we have a reproduction crinoline Windsor chair ,it has curved arms and the strut holding up the arm is curved right becack on itself so that ladies could sit in them,If I dont have time to get changed for tea thats what I sit in .I will try to get a photo soon

I'd also like to add, I love the crimson / wine colour theme. It's gorgeous.

Yes I loved the colour mix ,I thought it looked quite authentic but I do fancy a lighter coloured one that looks more summery

Yes it would be nice,,but I bet this would be hard to drive a car in ,,I have to sit on the back seat ,its also pretty hard work in shops!

You know I always did consider that, for women it would be impossible to do anything in those dresses! Imagine also trying to squeeze all that into a plain seat!

A very nice gown. Love the ruffling of the petticoat/jupe.
