Description
A elizabethan gown based on the cornation gown of Elizabeth 1.
The portrait I used is very famous but is not contempory ,its actualy from 1600 but is a copy of an earlier lost portrait ,the artist is unknown. There is an almost identical but much smaller copy by Hillard from the 1600 .
The dres is made from faux shot silk damask ,the gold threads help create a cloth of gold look as we know Elizabeth wore cloth of gold .It is lined with yellow silk .the cuffs are trimed with vintage artic fox which was the nearest I could find to ermine .
I hand wired the cut chrystals and glass pearls to create the bodice and cuff trims .It also has a partlet and mantle as though the dress in the portrait looks at first glance high necked its almost certainly a square necked dress and partlet.
