The styling is beautiful and very classic. I love the use of the shiny taffeta with the brocade like print. It works great. The hat and choker work well with the piece and the accent feathers help hold the hat with costume. Nice choices. Looking forward to checking out your other outfits.
Hi I was lucky with the fabric I magaed to by two remanants of the embriodred faux silk.I dont use patterns I find them really confusing .I tend to make it up as I go along, Its fairly easy with 18thc gowns as theres so much fabric in them a few mistakes here and there are easy to fix
i hear you about confusing patterns. for something like that, i generally use a pattern close enough and then do some improvising as i tend to not fit right in pattens anyway. it looked so pro, i wasn't sure if you used a truly victorian pattern or someone else's.
I never thought about patterns not fitting ,,I used victorian fashion plates for this one as well as the V and A online costumes catalogue.I also use movie stills if its a movie inspired gown and mix and match with ideas from the fashion plates.
